The Short Version
In the cane belt a name is not just something on a certificate. A payment does not travel from the mill straight to you; it travels along a chain of four records, and your name has to be the same at every link. The land is recorded in a name on the khatauni, membership and supply are recorded against that landholding at the cane society, the cane delivered is credited to that grower in the mill ledger, and the money is finally transferred to a bank account in a name. If the khatauni says one thing and the bank account says another, the payment has nowhere to complete its journey and it simply waits. Nobody rejected you; the chain broke. The useful part is that this chain is verified every single season, so a mismatch cannot hide the way a service record can.
