Do them now, between cycles, because a correction during the window rarely lands in time.

Knowing which of the two stages you are stuck at saves weeks of visiting the wrong counter, and the status page usually tells you if you read it carefully.
The Three Names That Must Agree

Linked Is Not Seeded
- Giving the bank your Aadhaar number is linking, which is routine and most people have done it.
- Seeding is different: the bank registers that account as the one where Aadhaar based government payments should land.
- Without seeding the transfer cannot complete, however correct and however approved the application is.
- The question to ask at the branch is specific: is this account seeded for Aadhaar based DBT, not is my Aadhaar linked.
- It takes a few days to become active, so it is not something to do in the last week of a window.

Why the Timing Is Cruel Here

If the File Is Flagged
- A file can be marked as doubtful rather than rejected, in which case the portal may simply stop updating rather than saying anything clear.
- Log in and look for a scrutiny or suspect data section, rather than only reading the main status line.
- If your name appears there, approach the District Welfare Officer in your district with the correct documents and a written application.
- Take an acknowledgment, as with any application, because the deadlines here are unforgiving and dates matter.
- Common triggers are the income certificate, the caste certificate and marks entered by hand, so copy figures from the marksheet rather than recalculating them.
One point worth stating separately: an income certificate is generally required to be of the current financial year, and an older one is not accepted. Get a fresh one each year rather than reusing last year s.
What Is Local in Basti

Is a gazette needed for a scholarship mismatch? Usually not. A spelling difference is settled by an affidavit and by correcting whichever document is actually wrong. The gazette is for a genuine change of name.
Stage 1: The affidavit
Point four is unusual and it is there for a reason: scholarship files are frequently held up because the account belongs to a parent. Stating expressly that it is the student s own account answers that before it is asked.
Stage 2: The Public Notice, in two copies
Only where the name genuinely changed, and never in the middle of an application window. Each witness gives signature, full name and address, and both sign both copies.
Stage 3: The CD and CD-Certificate
Stage 4: Newspapers, fee, covering letter and dispatch

Where a gazette is genuinely needed, the envelope is: covering letter with your phone and email, affidavit (notarised), Public Notice typed in two copies with two witnesses on each, CD in MS-Word format with the signed CD-Certificate, both complete newspaper pages, photo identity proof, address proof, photographs and the BharatKosh receipt.

After a Correction: What Follows
Recheck the portal profile so it carries the corrected details, and keep a screenshot of the submitted application and of the status page. If a payment fails again, the reason shown is the thing to act on, and it is usually a bank reason rather than a scholarship one.
What Other Websites Get Wrong
- Wrong: verified means the money is coming. Right: verification and payment are two separate stages.
- Wrong: chase the college when payment fails. Right: a failed transfer is usually a bank matter.
- Wrong: Aadhaar is linked, so DBT will work. Right: linking and seeding are different, and only seeding pays.
- Wrong: a parent s account is fine. Right: the account must be in the student s own name.

Why We Ask About the Bank Before the Name
Parents from this district usually contact us convinced that a name has to be corrected, because that is what somebody at the college said. Often it does.
